Day-by-Day Route Breakdown

Day 1: Port d'Andratx → Finca Ses Fontanelles

20.7 km · 873m↑ · 549m↓ ·

The trail begins at Port d'Andratx harbour, following the waterfront promenade before climbing through pine forests with expansive Mediterranean views. The route passes through Sant Elm with views of Dragonera Island, then continues to La Trapa, a former Trappist monastery from 1810. The path circles Puig de ses Basses before joining forest roads to Ses Fontanelles Refugio.

Day 2: Finca Ses Fontanelles → Esporles

A challenging climb towards Mola de s'Esclop with spectacular panoramic views, then descending to Estellencs and continuing through mixed Mediterranean forest to Banyalbufar. The section ends along the historic Postman's Path (Camí des Correu), featuring exquisite dry stone craftsmanship descending gently into Esporles.

Day 3: Esporles → Deià

The trail climbs through dense holm oak forest to Sa Comuna at 690m before descending to Valldemossa. From there, old mule tracks lead through Mediterranean woodland, crossing Puig Gros (938m) and Es Caragolí (944m) with spectacular panoramas. The descent to Deià reveals the village's terracotta roofs — once home to poet Robert Graves.

Day 4: Deià → Refugi Tossals Verds

A big day descending through ancient olive groves to the Cap Gros lighthouse, then following the seafront to Port de Sóller and on to Sóller. The afternoon tackles the challenging Barranc de Biniaraix — a UNESCO-protected cobblestone path with over 2,000 ancient stone steps — before continuing through the heart of the Serra de Tramuntana.

Day 5: Refugi Tossals Verds → Port de Pollença

38.6 km · 998m↑ · 1,551m↓ ·

The final push climbs to Coll des Prat (1,200m) — the highest point of the GR221 — before descending to Lluc Monastery on the Camí de ses Voltes d'en Galileu. From Lluc, the trail crosses to Pollença through tranquil woodland and citrus groves, finishing along the coast to Port de Pollença.
